Idea: An interactive GigDig front page?

After seeing the layout of this blog, I got to thinking...
Hey! wouldn't the GigDig Home Page look good with this layout?
I could use this design on the front page,
Make the news section at the top interactive with the blogging feature,
and still keep the old parts of the site up and operable.
The idea *sounds* good to me, and it would look good on the browser, but I'm not too sure how practicable redesigning the whole site would be.
Blogging software generally starts out as a nice lite little package that grows into a big fat resource-consuming lump of patches, upgrades, and overhauls... and I like to keep things simple.
In the words of a friend after he made a suggestion:
"I'll think about it."

I have activated this new skin from jd.blazingbox.com.
They call it BLACK and WHITE, but I'd have named it white on black.
Well its their skin and they can name it whatever they like.
The links on the right side have to be hard coded with a text editor, but it's an overall good skin.
It should be available for download at jd.blazingbox.com in the near future.
